The Repair our Roads site was set up by prospective Highland Lib Dem Scottish Parliamentary candidate Alan MacRae in order to scrutinise the speed with which the trunk road operator, Scotland Transerv, carries out critical road repairs in the Highlands and on Skye.  The evidence in recent years has been that maintenance standards on parts of the A87, the A82 and the A86 fall far below the level implied by Transerv's contract.  Especially severe problems flare up every winter - causing extra danger to road users, and damage to vehicles.

 

Scotland Transerv has asked us to encourage users of this site to report faults on the Transport Scotland 24 hour hotline - 0800 028 1414 - so that they can receive immediate attention.  We are happy to do so, and we welcome Transerv's undertaking to investigate faults immediately and take appropriate action.  We remain concerned that this does not happen in many cases, and we intend to use this site to monitor the company and publish its explanation where its response falls short of public expectations.
